Associate Project Manager – Programme & Project Management (PPM)

Arup’s Programme & Project Management business in the North invites applications for an Associate Project Manager. The role focuses on client‑side programme management across the North East of England, Scotland, and Northern Ireland, with oversight of substantial programmes and development of the PPM capability in the region.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage project teams to deliver commissions, holding commercial responsibility for project outcomes.
  • Deliver work to a high standard of client satisfaction and profitability.
  • Provide leadership and support to the PPM team, including team development, annual appraisals, and capacity building.
  • Develop new client relationships, identify opportunities, and lead bids for new work to grow the business.
  • Advise clients on programme delivery strategy, governance, structuring, digital tools, and health & safety.

Required Experience and Skills

  • Background in knowledge transfer and capacity building with client teams.
  • Experience managing politically complex programmes and engaging with client programme boards.
  • Proficiency in implementing digital tools and systems across project management disciplines.
  • Well‑established experience in PPM within energy, water, and transport sectors.
  • Proven track record in building lasting client relationships, developing targeted propositions, and winning work.
