The Role

This is an opportunity to build a long-term career in health, safety, and fire compliance within a supportive and growing environment. You’ll start by learning the foundations of the role, working closely with our Health & Safety Coordinator and Manager. Over time, you’ll develop the knowledge and confidence to take ownership of site visits and advisory responsibilities, progressing to a fully qualified Health, Safety & Fire Advisor. As part of your development, you’ll be supported to complete your NEBOSH General Certificate and NEBOSH Fire Certificate within a two-year period.

What You’ll Do

You’ll play an active role in supporting and strengthening our health and safety culture across the business. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting with the review of risk assessments, method statements, safe systems of work, and COSHH assessments
  • Transposing and organising reports produced by assessors
  • Supporting the development and maintenance of our Health & Safety Management System in line with ISO 45001
  • Collating and monitoring risk data across the business
  • Assisting with accident and incident investigations
  • Recording and reviewing accident and near‑miss reports, escalating where appropriate
  • Managing the H&S inbox and acting as a first point of contact for queries
  • Reviewing contractor documentation as part of the approval process
  • Supporting site audits and internal H&S inspections
  • Assisting with inductions and ensuring training requirements are met
  • Coordinating fire safety across office locations, including system checks and evacuation drills

What You’ll Bring

Essential

  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to spot potential risks and inconsistencies
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, able to present information clearly and professionally
  • Willingness to learn and develop knowledge in health, safety, and fire compliance
  • Organised and able to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively
  • Confident using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Ability to follow procedures and work within established systems
  • Proactive attitude with the confidence to ask questions and seek guidance
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Basic problem‑solving skills with a practical, common‑sense approach
  • Professional and approachable manner when dealing with colleagues and contractors

Desirable (but not essential)

  • University degree
  • Fire Marshal or First Aid certification
  • Full UK driving licence

This is a hybrid role with 4 days working from home and one day attending an Encore office. Our offices are located in Cambridge, Manchester, London, Nottingham, Sandhurst and Peterborough.
