Our defence client is seeking a Nuclear Safety Engineer to work on average 2-3 days per week onsite in Bristol with 2-3 days from home, along with 2 days per month onsite in Glasgow/Clyde. This would be a quarterly extended Inside IR35 contract offering between £550-£770 per day based on experience. Active SC/DV clearance is required.
Responsibilities
- Preliminary Safety & Environmental Report (PSER): Draft PSER completed; pending safety assessments will be completed for Design Review 1 and incorporated into the final PSER. Manage feedback from the Clyde Defence Authority and stakeholders, coordinate required updates, and oversee the release of the final version. Support contractors delivering safety artefacts, attend safety working groups, develop Safety Functional Requirements, and maintain records in a central repository.
- Updates to Programme EUSTON Safety & Environmental Management Plan (SEMP) – provide updates to the SEMP for Design Review 1.
- Safety Working Groups – act as secretariat to the bi‑weekly safety working groups.
- Programme Safety & Environmental Committee (PSEC) – act as secretariat to the quarterly PSEC.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Active SC/DV clearance; higher‑level security clearance holders are welcomed. Successful applicants will be required to obtain security clearance prior to appointment, which can take a minimum of 10 weeks.
- Relevant experience in nuclear safety engineering or related safety engineering roles.
- Working knowledge of safety and environmental regulatory requirements.
