Bricklaying Lecturer

  • Annual Salary: £29,783 – £40,961

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Bricklaying Lecturer to join our clients Construction department. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality teaching, learning, and assessment to learners across Levels 1–3, ensuring students develop strong practical skills, professional behaviours, and industry knowledge needed for employment in the construction sector.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Deliver engaging and structured practical and theory sessions in Bricklaying at Levels 1–3.
  • Teach a broad range of construction skills, including brickwork, blockwork, cavity walls, setting out, and additional skills such as rendering and basic plastering.
  • Prepare lesson plans, schemes of work, and learning materials aligned with awarding body requirements.
  • Support learners in developing employability skills, safe working practices, and high standards of workmanship.
  • Provide clear, timely, and constructive feedback to learners on practical and written assessments.
  • Plan, deliver, and assess coursework, practical assessments, and exams in line with college and awarding organisation standards.
  • Maintain accurate learner progress records and contribute to internal verification processes.
  • Provide pastoral support and guidance to learners, promoting positive behaviour and strong attendance.
  • Identify individual learning needs and adapt teaching methods to support differentiation.
  • Promote safeguarding, equality, diversity, and inclusion throughout all teaching activities.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, employers, and curriculum managers to ensure high-quality provision.
  • Remain up to date with industry practices, qualifications, and FE sector developments.
  • Contribute to curriculum development, enrichment activities, open events, and employer engagement.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Strong trade background in Bricklaying, with substantial industry experience.
  • Level 3 (or higher) qualification in Bricklaying or Construction Craft.
  • Experience in rendering, plastering, and associated trowel trades.
  • Teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, CertEd, Level 5 Diploma in Education & Training) or willingness to work towards one.
  • Assessor qualification (TAQA/A1) or willingness to achieve it.
  • Excellent communication and workshop management skills.

Desirable Qualifications & Experience:

  • Experience teaching in Further Education or training apprentices.
  • Internal Quality Assurer (IQA) qualification.
  • Current CSCS card or recent industry CPD.
  • Experience delivering to diverse learner cohorts, including 16–19 and adult learners.
