Overview
Creative Director – Catalog Games, Barcelona. Department: Catalog. Reports To: VP Catalog.
We are looking for a Creative Director to elevate the creative direction of our most impactful games and shape the long-term future of our portfolio. You will be the voice of the player, the architect of product vision, and a key partner to product leadership, transforming player insights into creative strategies and guiding teams toward delivering memorable, engaging experiences. This role is a core part of the Catalog Leadership Team and leads a multidisciplinary creative group of about 10 across Game Design, Level Design, UX/UI Design, and Game Art.
Responsibilities
- Creative Leadership & Vision
- Define, own, and communicate the creative vision for Catalog’s most prominent titles.
- Ensure alignment of creative direction across design, production, and tech throughout development.
- Champion creative excellence and drive innovation across the portfolio.
- Team Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and inspire a multidisciplinary team of designers and artists.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, craftsmanship, curiosity, and continuous improvement.
- Grow creative capabilities through coaching, clear direction, and constructive feedback.
- Product & Player Insight
- Evaluate game performance, player feedback, and industry trends to inform creative decisions.
- Lead discovery efforts to identify player needs, challenges, and opportunities.
- Translate insights into actionable creative strategies that enhance player experience and performance.
- Cross-Functional Partnership
- Work closely with Product, Production, and Tech leads to translate vision into practical plans.
- Ensure strong alignment between creative direction, product strategy, and technical feasibility.
- Elevate game quality by driving clarity, documentation, and consistency in creative processes.
- Process & Quality
- Develop and maintain design processes, methodologies, and standards across teams.
- Ensure all creative work meets high-quality expectations and contributes to cohesive, player-led game experiences.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in a senior creative leadership role in games, entertainment, or digital product development.
- Deep understanding of game design principles, player psychology, and engagement loops.
- Strong storytelling and communication skills; able to craft and articulate a compelling vision.
- Skilled at synthesizing qualitative and quantitative player insights into creative decisions.
- Demonstrated success guiding cross-functional teams from concept to execution.
- Excellent collaboration skills with the ability to influence stakeholders across levels.
- Strong knowledge of creative disciplines including Game Design, Level Design, UX/UI, Art, and Player Research.
- Experience building, motivating, and developing high-performing creative teams.
- Detail-oriented with strong documentation and process-management capabilities.
- Solid understanding of the gaming market and evolving player expectations.
Bonus Points
- Experience working on live games, F2P mechanics, and/or casual mobile titles.
- Familiarity with agile development and iterative design practices.
- Background in UX/UI, game design, narrative, or interactive media.
