About this Role

Wood Green School is looking for a talented and dynamic leader to head our Creative Arts department, overseeing Fine Art, Graphics, and Textiles. The department will move into a new STEAM block in September 2026.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a committed team of specialist teachers across Fine Art, Graphics, and Textiles.
  • Champion high‑quality teaching and learning that inspires students of all ages and abilities.
  • Drive an ambitious, inclusive vision for Creative Arts, ensuring students thrive academically and personally.
  • Develop curriculum innovation, high standards of assessment, and a rich co‑curricular offer.
  • Collaborate with senior and middle leaders to contribute to whole‑school improvement.
  • Model our values and nurture a culture of belonging, creativity, excellence, and aspiration.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Clear, compelling vision for outstanding Creative Arts education.
  • Excellent classroom practitioner with experience developing teaching within a team.
  • Strong leadership skills, capable of motivating and inspiring others.
  • Reflective, committed to professional growth, and keen to continue developing throughout their career.
  • Passionate about helping young people become confident, creative, and well‑rounded individuals.
  • Required evidence of formal qualifications for the role.
  • Capacity to undergo an Enhanced Disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) and obtain any other statutory clearance.
  • Will provide at least two acceptable references (including one from current/last employer).
