Job Overview
Better Bankside is seeking a dynamic, collaborative and creative Resilience Manager to support our ambition for a stronger, greener and happier Bankside. The role involves working with strategic partners and member businesses to create a safer, more welcoming and resilient area and deliver on our key goals, including the fifth five‑year plan following the successful ballot in autumn 2024.
Key Responsibilities
- Contract & SLA Administration
- Manage the SLA with Southwark Council for the Better Bankside Wardens, ensuring performance targets are met and reported.
- Regularly task wardens and act as liaison between member businesses and wardens to ensure a coordinated, visible and responsive service is delivered.
- Plan and lead wardens–focused events and campaigns targeting businesses and the public realm.
- Handle invoicing and coordinate wardens to support and assist BB events as needed.
- Shop Safe Alert Platform Implementation
- Administer contracts with the service provider, ensuring compliance with UKDPA and relevant regulations and agreed KPIs.
- Collaborate with partners and key member businesses to design and develop the platform to reflect Badger Bankside specifications.
- Lead the rollout and implementation of the platform to appropriate BB business members.
- Maintain day‑to‑day oversight of the system and manage all BB ‘Alert’ notices.
- Networks and Stakeholder Engagement
- Engage with local, regional and national Police, security and business resilience bodies to develop partnerships that enhance BB services.
- Maintain close relationships with relevant local organisations to enable clear operational communications, procedures and plans for major incidents and disaster recovery.
- Ensure BB has the necessary associations or accreditations to operate security and resilience services effectively.
- Plan, lead and facilitate the Better Bankside Security & Resilience Theme Group, ensuring regular meetings and an effective communication plan.
- Operational Delivery
- Lead a business case for the next evolution of the Better Bankside patrolling service (wardens) and co‑design initiatives with stakeholders.
- Collaborate on projects and programmes that enhance security and resilience for member businesses against crime and anti‑social behaviour.
- Develop projects such as VAWG initiatives to help workers, residents and visitors feel safe while moving around Bankside.
- Engage members through activity, including ballot campaigns, to increase participation in BB services and secure support.
- Document activities and contacts in BB’s customer relationship management system.
- Work with the S&R Theme Group and Director of Place to finalise BB’s Security and Resilience annual business plans.
- Collaborate on data identification, processing and presentation with BB team members and stakeholders.
Person Specification / Skills and Key Competencies
- High level of understanding and ability to lead and collaborate on co‑designed strategies, programmes and projects that support business resilience, emergency planning, anti‑social behaviour and crime reduction.
- Proficient in contract and SLA administration.
- Strong grasp of relevant Acts, legislation and standards that underpin legal support against threats, anti‑social behaviour and crime.
- Excellent communication skills with experience at senior levels, building trusted relationships.
- Ability to translate complex or technical information into clear business‑deliverable instruction and guidance.
- Track record of delivering projects or programmes using recognised project or programme management processes.
- Understanding of how business and place are affected by major threats, anti‑social behaviour and crime, and knowledge of solutions such as VAWG or Secure by Design.
- Strong organisational skills, able to prioritise and plan programmes, support annual business planning, objective setting and performance monitoring.
Working Arrangements
Better Bankside offers a flexible working policy. Core hours are 10am – 4pm, Monday to Friday, with two hours of flex time. Some evening and weekend work may be required. The role requires a minimum of three days per week based in the office and up to two days working from home.
