The Practice and Business Manager will lead the salaried practice team, ensuring the delivery of safe, effective, and high quality patient care. Responsibilities include maintaining compliance with CQC standards, NHS contractual requirements, and internal policies, while supporting the team to achieve key performance targets (including QOF and operational metrics). The postholder will work closely with the Business and Finance Manager to deliver both strategic development and day-to-day operational management of the practice.

Main duties of the job

The Practice and Business Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the practice. They will handle complaints, significant events and ensure that all staff have annual appraisals.

They will work alongside the Business and Finance Manager to ensure that we achieve our OQF targets while also complying with CQC standards.

Job responsibilities

Organise staff to achieve QOF, QIF, etc

Responsible for staff related issuesincluding staff grievance and disciplinary matters.

Individualresponsibility will include:

Oversight of annual leave requests forsalaried staff

Ensure the practice staff are up to datewith regards to work within the PCN

Maintain good knowledge anddocumentation of Practice CQC requirements.

Administrative lead for Child &Adult safeguarding liaise with the clinical leads.

Completion of annual infection controlaudit with an appropriate clinician

Maintain good knowledge of, andcompliance with, Health and Safety legislation.

Ensureall software and hardware is up-to-date and meets current standards

Work withOperations Lead

Liaise withpartners regarding planned and unplanned building maintenance and to ensure allnecessary building surveys are carried out

First point of contact regarding patientcomplaints

Discusssignificant events at partnership meetings.

Person Specification

Qualifications

  • Diploma in Medical administration or equivalent
  • Knowledge of HR law
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of QOF, QIF, GMS and other NHS contracts
  • Training in general practice IT governance and confidentiality
  • Training in conflict resolution

Experience

  • 1+ cumulative years working in general practice or a primary care network, (PCN)
  • Excellent knowledge of EMIS especially conducting searches/audits etc
  • In depth understanding of PCNS.
  • A strong history of being trusted with positions of responsibility.
  • Experience of North Staffordshire and knowledge of the issues facing the Staffordshire Moorlands.
  • Experience in other NHS organisations/healthcare settings.
