The Role

Working within Specialist Children’s Services in Greater Glasgow and Clyde, which encompasses Community Paediatrics, CAMHS & Acute Paediatrics, you will be committed to addressing the health and wellbeing needs of children, young people and their families. You will work in multi‑disciplinary teams whose aim is to provide high quality support, assessment and interventions in line with evidence based practice and national policies/ agendas. You will have knowledge and experience of working in teams where care is coordinated and you will fully understand the impact of integrated care and services. You will be professionally registered and have relevant experience in planning and providing person centred and outcome based care.

You will be expected to work as part of a multi‑disciplinary team for the Specialist Children’s Services Neurodevelopmental Waiting List Team.

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern

  • Location based in Templeton Business Centre
  • Fixed‑term contract for 23 months
  • Full‑time position – 37 hours per week (36 from 01/04/26)
  • The shift pattern for this post is 09:00 – 17:00

Key Responsibilities

  • To deliver high quality care, for a range of difficulties, to a defined patient caseload.
  • To act upon referrals from a range of professionals and statutory/voluntary bodies as appropriate, by providing assessment, implementation and development of treatment programmes or by referral to other appropriate services.
  • Provide consultation / specialist advice, support and liaison with other professionals as necessary and as required.
  • To participate in all activities aimed at keeping professional skills updated, and contribute to dissemination of that knowledge and experience to all staff and students within your area of responsibility.
  • To increase the skill level of staff and the quality of service within the Specialist Children Service
  • To lead, participate in, and evaluate teaching programmes for various disciplines within Specialist Children’s Services
  • Line manage staff and students within the geographical area having responsibility for clinical supervision, professional development, appraisal, performance review and recruitment and retention of staff.
  • Support the Neurodevelopmental Implementation Lead, Practice Development Leads and Professional Leads in implementing and maintaining a robust approach to clinical governance within the Neurodevelopmental Team.
  • Support staff in planning their continuing professional development in collaboration with line manager.

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job

  • Educated to degree level with valid registration/membership of relevant professional body
  • Evidence of post‑basic continuing personal and professional development
  • Demonstrable Management or Leadership competencies with a completion of a course of study aimed at increasing management expertise and leadership qualities
  • Previous experience working with children and young people in assessment and diagnosis as well as in providing therapeutic intervention in the area of Neurodevelopmental differences would be advantageous
  • Ability to work across disciplines and co‑ordinate care
  • Experience of providing leadership as part of a multi disciplinary team would be advantageous
