Role description

The Underwriting Team Manager leads, motivates and develops a team of Trading Underwriters to deliver high-quality service, ensuring financial and operational targets are achieved.

Key responsibilities

  • Drive culture to go above and beyond for customers, being creative and dynamic.
  • Create a service excellence culture, striving to exceed customer perceptions.
  • Lead performance and development of approximately 10-14 direct reports, focusing on continuous improvement.
  • Identify process improvements to benefit customers while managing capacity and resources.
  • Collaborate with management to inspire culture and challenge business processes, improving efficiency and productivity.
  • Inspire outstanding performance through personal leadership and behaviours.
  • Motivate, mentor and develop individuals to maximize potential.
  • Serve as a role model for Zurich behaviours.
  • Monitor, track and report financial performance against annual targets, ensuring team accountability.
  • Maintain a detailed understanding of channel metrics and performance drivers, using data to shape strategy.
  • Embed service excellence, responding to customers timely while adapting to evolving demand.
  • Ensure governance and controls are followed, upholding standards of behaviour and policy compliance.
  • Interpret data to respond to market conditions and customer demand, ensuring accuracy to influence strategy.

Your skills and experience

  • Leadership experience in a competitive market.
  • Ability to coach and influence at all levels.
  • Proven track record in developing performance.
  • Data-driven decision-making for resource management and strategy.
  • Experience within an organisation with strong corporate values.
  • Previous experience in General Insurance is desirable.
  • Innovative, enthusiastic and forward-thinking.
