Sitting on the Eastern edge of the National Park, the South Downs National Park Authority owns the Seven Sisters Country Park. We are dedicated to ensuring nature conservation for generations to come.
We have an exciting opportunity for a Country Park Manager to lead on the operational delivery of the park, leading on landscape management, nature recovery and the day-to-day operations of this busy location, which includes our visitor facilities. Our aspirations are high, and the successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of our key objectives whilst contributing to a commercially viable business.
Although your focus will be on managing the landscape and our Countryside Stewardship delivery, your remit will cover the whole country park. You will be responsible for leading all staff and volunteer teams, so experience of people management is essential, as is a strong knowledge of landscape management and delivering agri-environment schemes. You will also have experience of overseeing the day-to-day requirements of maintaining legally compliant buildings and facilities.
Working with both in-house and external partners, you must be able to communicate and build relationships with external stakeholders.
You must be a self-starter, flexible, committed and willing to “get stuck in” to solve issues across the whole site. The working pattern for this post includes regular weekend and bank holiday duty cover on a rota basis and working longer hours between April and October, with a shorter week for the remainder of the year.
