Job Description:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join the Research & Development team as a Research Nurse. The role will deliver high quality care and support to research participants for the duration of their study involvement, as part of the multi-disciplinary team.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to effective management of each study, including patient recruitment, research sampling and the collection of study‑specific information.
  • Conduct research activities in accordance with study protocols, project sponsors and Forth Valley Standard Operating Procedures and policies.
  • Maintain accurate records of study‑specific information using traditional paper records, electronic patient management systems or web‑based study‐specific IT systems.
  • Identify and recruit study participants from research active areas within NHS Forth Valley.
  • Ensure all relevant guidelines and regulations are adhered to, and push projects forward in a timely manner.
  • Participate as a member of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme.

Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse with relevant post‑registration experience in the clinical research environment and acute specialist areas.
  • Educated to a minimum of degree level and registered with the appropriate regulatory body (NMC).
  • Proven ability to work independently and a motivation to push projects forward.
  • Excellent communication, organisational and attention to detail skills.
  • Current Good Clinical Practice (GCP) certificate.
  • Proficient in MS Office and electronic patient management systems.
  • Ability and willingness to travel throughout the area of service delivery.

  • Membership of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme (more information can be found at www.disclosurescotland.co.uk).

Work Hours and Salary

As from 1/4/26, the Agenda for Change full‑time working week will be reducing from 37 to 36 hours per week. Part‑time hours will be reduced pro‑rata. However, there will be a corresponding increase in the hourly rate so that pay will not be affected.

NHS Forth Valley may be able to offer sponsorship for certain roles, provided the post meets the minimum salary threshold and any other required criteria. Please note that sponsorship is not guaranteed and is assessed on a case‑by‑case basis following interview and at the commencement of pre‑employment checks.
