Overview
Senior Quality Engineer – Location: Alfreton – Industry: Precision Engineering – Salary: up to £52,000 – Hours: Monday to Thursday (7.30am-4.30pm) and Fridays (7.30am-2.00pm) – Contracted hours: 40 per week. Holidays and Benefits: 33 days holiday, Xmas shut down, 7.5% pension, x4 salary death in service.
Role
Working within modern purpose-built manufacturing facilities, the Senior Quality Engineer will be a member of a precision engineering business that manufactures components and fabrications for the aerospace, nuclear and defence industry.
Responsibilities
- Support the Quality Manager in maintaining certifications.
- Conduct product and system audits to ensure compliance with regulatory and customer-specific requirements.
- Compile documentation packs to support product delivery and traceability.
- Provide engineering support for Visual and CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) inspections.
- Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine quality standards.
- Apply First Article Inspection techniques in line with AS9102 requirements.
- Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives across the business.
- Use quality tools to detect, contain, and investigate non-conformances, ensuring robust corrective actions are implemented.
- Define and apply process control methods, including identifying critical control points and developing work instructions.
Desirable Qualifications
- Experience with data collection and analysis.
- A strong background in implementing quality systems within a precision engineering environment – aerospace, machining, fabrication or similar.
- Experience in Lean/problem solving techniques (8D), Kaizen.
- Knowledge of 6 Sigma process is beneficial.
- Competent/capable of driving quality throughout a large business and manufacturer.
- Commutable from: Heanor, Ripley, Alfreton, Hucknall and surrounding areas.
