Electrical Maintenance Technician

Georgia‑Pacific in Darlington, SC seeks qualified candidates to join our plant as an Electrical Maintenance Technician. The role focuses on corrective and preventive maintenance of electrical & electronic systems on high‑volume manufacturing equipment (plate forming presses, automated packaging machinery, industrial printing presses, etc.). The technician will partner with operating teams to troubleshoot, repair, and resolve equipment issues on shift, improving equipment reliability and uptime.

Our work environment is primarily indoors, climate controlled and clean. This full‑time role requires lifting up to 50 lbs, standing for long periods, and working on a 12‑hour rotating shift (night, day, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed). Starting pay is based on skill/experience with a $2/hr shift incentive.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute both scheduled and unscheduled maintenance work on manufacturing assets (printing presses, plate presses, conveyors, robots, automated case‑packing/stacking equipment).
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair electrical and controls problems following plant policies and procedures.
  • Document work activities, procure parts, and enter work orders into the facility maintenance system.
  • Work with single‑phase, three‑phase electrical systems up to 480 V and associated control components.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics to troubleshoot electrical and electronic issues.

Basic Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 2‑year electrical technical degree OR 5+ years as an industrial electrician.
  • Experience executing maintenance plans, procuring parts, and documenting work.
  • Proficiency in single‑ and three‑phase electrical repair and troubleshooting up to 480 V.
  • Experience with PLCs, motor controllers, and drives; ability to modify work orders in the maintenance system.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Systems, Instrumentation, or related field.
  • 2+ years of manufacturing environment troubleshooting (Allen Bradley, Siemens PLCs, Control Logix/RS Logix).
  • Experience with Allen Bradley PanelView, FactoryTalk, servo systems.
  • Ability to read and understand electrical schematics for troubleshooting.
