Due to continued growth, we are looking for an experienced Crane & Lifting Operations Manager to take full responsibility for fleet management as well as the planning and delivery of lifting operations.

The Role

This is a hands-on management role, responsible for ensuring our cranes are compliant, well maintained, efficiently scheduled and supported by accurate lift planning. You will work closely with clients, operators and site teams to ensure all lifting operations are delivered safely and professionally.

Responsibilities

  • Fleet Management: manage the maintenance, compliance, inspections and deployment of the crane fleet (four mobile cranes and a lorry loader).
  • Lift Planning: prepare detailed lift plans and RAMS for standard and complex lifts, acting as the Appointed Person (AP).
  • Operations: oversee lifting operations on-site where required, ensuring all work is carried out in line with BS 7121 and LOLER regulations.
  • Customer Liaison: communicate with clients and site teams to ensure lift requirements are understood and delivered efficiently.
  • Team Leadership: lead and support crane operators and technical staff, ensuring high standards of performance and safety.
  • Compliance & Safety: maintain strong safety culture, ensuring documentation and procedures are up to date and followed.

Requirements

  • Proven experience managing crane fleets and lifting operations.
  • CPCS Appointed Person (A61) or equivalent certification.
  • Strong working knowledge of LOLER, BS 7121 and general health & safety legislation.
  • Confident producing lift plans, RAMS and supporting documentation.
  • Proficiency in lift planning software is desirable.
  • Crane operator licence essential (A60) (to cover holidays/sickness).
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple jobs at once.
