Payroll & Time Administrator

Location: Belfast

Contract: 12-month contract (likely to be extended)

Hours: 36 hours per week (4.5 days), worked between 7am–7pm

Hybrid working: Available following initial upskilling

Pay Rate: £15.96ph PAYE / £21.36ph Umbrella

Clearance: BPSS+ required (completed by the Client)

IR35: Inside of IR35

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Payroll & Time Administrator to support the accurate collation and submission of payroll-critical data and to manage the local time and attendance system. This is a key administrative role within a fast-paced, high-volume environment, supporting managers, employees, and the local HR team.

You will be responsible for ensuring employee work hours and leave data are accurately recorded and submitted in line with strict monthly payroll cut-off deadlines. Acting as the first point of contact for all time and attendance queries, you’ll also produce regular management information reports and support continuous process improvement as systems and processes evolve.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer and maintain the time and attendance system (using Google AppSheet).
  • Ensure accurate and timely entry of hours, overtime, holidays, sick leave, and other absences.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for time and attendance queries from employees, managers, and HR.
  • Manage weekly and monthly payroll data uploads and complete payroll input sheets.
  • Produce weekly, monthly, and ad-hoc reports for payroll, HR, and management.
  • Support new starter administration, payroll documentation, and related HR admin forms.
  • Monitor, audit, and resolve system errors or warning messages to ensure data integrity.
  • Liaise closely with the central payroll team to ensure payroll accuracy and deadline adherence.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a payroll or time and attendance administration role.
  • Proven experience with payroll administration processes and high-volume data entry (500+ records).
  • Strong working knowledge of Google Workspace, particularly Google Sheets.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise workload.
  • Confident communicator with the ability to handle queries professionally and clearly.
  • Proactive approach to problem-solving and system issue resolution.
  • High level of integrity and discretion when handling sensitive employee data.
  • Resilient, adaptable, and comfortable working in an evolving process environment.
