Job Description:

PingPong is on a mission to simplify global growth for businesses. With $200B+ in payments processed, we’re one of the world’s leading cross-border platforms – and we’re just getting started.

PingPong currently has 38 offices in 15 countries and over 1,500 employees. Our international presence helps businesses solve complex payment needs in every major economy across all time zones.

Now, we’re scaling and looking for a Financial Crime Prevention Senior Manager to help build and lead the operational execution of our financial crime prevention programme.

WHAT’S THE CHALLENGE

This is a rare opportunity to shape and scale the operational frameworks for customer onboarding, transaction monitoring and ongoing compliance reviews at a high-growth global cross-border payments business.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

  • Lead and scale the financial crime operations functions across UK and Europe for PingPong’s full suite of payment services, which includes payments, FX, card acquiring and card issuing.
  • Maintain high-quality standards across all financial crime controls and our regulatory compliance while optimising operational excellence and customer experience.
  • Evolve our risk-based customer onboarding framework and optimize transaction monitoring rules
  • Manage our periodic review program for existing customers
  • Partner with product team to continuously improve processes that balance compliance rigour with customer experience, identifying opportunities for automation
  • Implement quality assurance and continuous improvement processes

WHAT YOU BRING

  • 8-10 years of experience in financial crime operations at an EMI or bank, with deep operational experience in KYC/KYB transaction monitoring and AML investigations.
  • Experience building financial crime operations or scaling early-stage operations – you’ve designed onboarding frameworks and transaction monitoring processes, not just executed them.
  • Experience across multiple payment services, including acquiring and issuing, preferred.
  • Experience managing high-performing teams.
  • Sound knowledge of the financial services regulatory environment in EMEA.
  • Product and technical fluency – comfortable discussing requirements with product and engineering teams.
  • Operational rigour – experience building scalable processes and using data to drive decisions.
  • Background in high-growth startup or scale up environments strongly preferred.
  • Fluent written and spoken English is required. Mandarin proficiency is a bonus.

WHO YOU ARE

You’ll thrive in this role if you are:

  • Comfortable with ambiguity, move fast and don’t need perfect instructions to get started.
  • Understand regulatory requirements and can translate them into efficient and scalable operations, balancing compliance rigour with customer experience.
  • Thrive in fast-changing environments and find pragmatic ways forward.
  • Data-driven and have the analytical ability to look at operational data to identify underlying issues and develop pragmatic and innovative solutions.
  • Equally comfortable operating strategically and being hands-on – you can design the framework and also roll up your sleeves to investigate complex cases.
  • Able to articulate complex regulatory matters to diverse audiences, building credibility and influence across all levels.

WHAT WE OFFER

  • Competitive salary
  • Private medical and dental insurance
  • 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays
  • Enhanced Parental leave (maternity/paternity)
  • Opportunity to be part of a rapidly scaling global organisation

If you’re excited about this role but your experience doesn’t align perfectly with every qualification, we encourage you to apply anyway. You may be just the right candidate for this or other roles.

PingPong is proud to be an equal-opportunity employer with a global culture that embraces diversity.

We are committed to providing an environment free of unfair discrimination and harassment.
