You will handle a complex caseload of adult social care matters while supporting the wider team.Key responsibilities include:

  • Manage a busy caseload of adult social care litigation matters
  • Handle Court of Protection work, including Section 21A and welfare applications
  • Provide legal advice on the Care Act, Mental Capacity Act, and Section 117 Mental Health Act
  • Draft legal documents and undertake advocacy where required
  • Advise internal stakeholders across the organisation
  • Liaise with external counsel and relevant bodies
  • Support team management and contribute to service delivery
  • Deliver updates or training on relevant legal developments

Essential Requirements

  • Qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or Legal Executive
  • Strong experience in Adult Social Care law
  • Experience handling Court of Protection matters
  • Proven litigation experience (ideally within a local authority)
  • Ability to manage a complex caseload independently
  • Strong advocacy, drafting, and communication skills
  • Some supervisory or management experience

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Previous local government experience
  • Understanding of local authority processes and governance
