Senior Mechanical Design Engineer – Building Services (HVAC)

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join a leading building services engineering consultancy based in Cambridge.
This role offers the chance to work on a range of high-profile building services projects, supporting the delivery of innovative and sustainable mechanical design solutions across multiple sectors.
The successful Senior Mechanical Design Engineer will play a key role in project delivery, technical design and team collaboration, contributing to the development of efficient and technically robust building services systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Producing mechanical building services designs for a variety of projects
- Developing HVAC system designs, calculations and specifications
- Supporting project delivery across multiple RIBA design stages
- Producing technical drawings and design documentation
- Collaborating with electrical engineers, structural engineers and architects
- Supporting BIM coordination and multidisciplinary design integration
- Ensuring designs comply with industry standards, regulations and project requirements
- Assisting with project delivery within programme and budget targets
Requirements
- Proven experience working as a Mechanical Design Engineer within building services
- Strong knowledge of HVAC systems and mechanical design principles
- Experience delivering projects across multiple RIBA stages
- Experience working within consultancy or multidisciplinary engineering environments
- Ability to produce design calculations and technical documentation
- Strong communication and coordination skills
Desirable
- Experience using Revit or BIM software
- Progression towards or achievement of Chartered Engineer (CEng) status
