We are currently working in partnership with a Housing Association based in the Southwest, who are recruiting for a Building Safety Manager on a permanent contract. The position is due to start immediately on a full-time basis. The salary for this position is £60,000 per annum, and offers up to four days a week working from home, including mileage paid from home.
The ideal candidate will have experience in a technical, construction, or building safety discipline, with existing knowledge of Social Housing compliance regulations in addition to direct experience of liaising with regulators and multi-disciplinary stakeholders. A strong knowledge of fire safety principles, compartmentation, and fire strategies are also desirable for this role. It would also be advantageous to have relevant qualifications such as Level 4 Fire Safety Management or asset compliance qualifications such as NEBOSH.
Duties will include (but are not limited to):
- Ensuring full compliance within the Building Safety Act regulations
- Liaising with regulators and external stakeholders (Including Local Authorities and the HSE)
- Overseeing the development and maintenance of Building Safety Case Reports
- Driving a strong culture of resident and building safety across the organisation
- Leading a Building Safety team, managing external consultants, and supporting regulatory submissions
- Ensuring robust safety management systems (Including the “golden thread” of building information).
Experience required:
- Relevant experience working within a Technical / Construction / Building Safety discipline
- Experience of working in relevant compliance related roles within the Social Housing sector
- Proven experience in managing HRBs and working under the Building Safety Act
- Experience engaging with regulators and multi-disciplinary stakeholders
- Experience of working in a role where Fire Safety best practices are enforced
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise required:
- A strong understanding of compliance regulations associated with the Building Safety Act
- Level 4 qualification in fire safety management or asset compliance (e.g. NEBOSH Fire Certificate or equivalent)
- Strong knowledge of building design, construction, fire safety principles, compartmentation and fire strategies
- Ability to translate technical safety information for non-technical audiences
- Strong leadership, communication and influencing skills
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel regionally and nationally
