Consultant Psychiatrist – CAMHS
£200,000 per annum

14 bed adolescent ward

You will work within a dedicated adolescent inpatient unit supporting individuals aged 13 to 18 who require intensive assessment and treatment. The postholder will play a central role in clinical leadership, care planning, and risk management, ensuring that care is trauma-informed, developmentally appropriate, and tailored to individual needs.
Essential Criteria:
- Full registration with a licence to practise from the General Medical Council (GMC).
- Inclusion on the Specialist Register in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, or eligibility within six months of completion of training.
- Significant experience working within child and adolescent mental health services, including inpatient settings.
- Strong clinical, leadership, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Commitment to safeguarding, ethical practice, and trauma-informed care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive psychiatric assessments, diagnosis, and ongoing management for young people admitted to the service.
- Lead the development of individualised, formulation-driven treatment plans in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.
- Prescribe and monitor medication in line with current clinical guidelines and best practice standards.
- Conduct regular ward reviews, care planning meetings, and statutory assessments where required.
- Work closely with families and carers, ensuring they are actively involved in assessment, treatment, and discharge planning.
- Liaise with external professionals, including community mental health teams, social care, and educational services, to ensure continuity of care.
- Provide specialist input into complex cases, including risk assessment and safeguarding concerns.
