A leading advanced manufacturing organisation is seeking a Building Design Plant Engineer to join its Facilities & Engineering function. This role is central to improving site performance, enabling operational excellence, and delivering high‑impact building and infrastructure projects from concept to completion.
The Opportunity
- You’ll take ownership of designing, analysing, and optimising structural, mechanical, and electrical systems across a diverse portfolio of building projects. Expect a blend of technical design, hands‑on engineering, and project leadership, including:
- Developing detailed blueprints, structural models, and system designs using CAD and 3D modelling tools
- Working with contract designers to analyse structural integrity, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and safety systems
- Ensuring all designs meet legal, environmental, and safety regulations
- Coordinating with architects, contractors, and internal stakeholders throughout the full project lifecycle
- Conducting site inspections, troubleshooting issues, and recommending improvements
- Managing external contractors and supporting wider engineering teams
- Contributing to a culture of continuous improvement and site‑wide safety

What You’ll Bring
Essential:
- Degree in Civil, Structural, or Architectural Engineering
- 5+ years’ experience in a similar building design or plant engineering role
- Strong CAD capability and proficiency with MS Office
- Solid understanding of engineering science, structural mechanics, and building systems
- Ability to analyse complex technical data
- Clear, confident communication skills
