A leading advanced manufacturing organisation is seeking a Building Design Plant Engineer to join its Facilities & Engineering function. This role is central to improving site performance, enabling operational excellence, and delivering high‑impact building and infrastructure projects from concept to completion.

The Opportunity

  • You’ll take ownership of designing, analysing, and optimising structural, mechanical, and electrical systems across a diverse portfolio of building projects. Expect a blend of technical design, hands‑on engineering, and project leadership, including:
  • Developing detailed blueprints, structural models, and system designs using CAD and 3D modelling tools
  • Working with contract designers to analyse structural integrity, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and safety systems
  • Ensuring all designs meet legal, environmental, and safety regulations
  • Coordinating with architects, contractors, and internal stakeholders throughout the full project lifecycle
  • Conducting site inspections, troubleshooting issues, and recommending improvements
  • Managing external contractors and supporting wider engineering teams
  • Contributing to a culture of continuous improvement and site‑wide safety

What You’ll Bring

Essential:

  • Degree in Civil, Structural, or Architectural Engineering
  • 5+ years’ experience in a similar building design or plant engineering role
  • Strong CAD capability and proficiency with MS Office
  • Solid understanding of engineering science, structural mechanics, and building systems
  • Ability to analyse complex technical data
  • Clear, confident communication skills
