JOB TITLE: Senior Software Engineer
SALARY: £65,000 – £75,000

As a Senior Software Engineer, you’ll play a key part in designing and delivering cloud‑native software that powers JLR’s digital products. You’ll lead by example, unleash your inner passion for quality‑first engineering and support a squad of junior developers as they craft their skills. In this role, no two days are the same. You’ll work across cloud platforms, APIs and real‑time services that support millions of connected vehicles, helping JLR do things differently and embrace change. You’ll guide others, stay hands‑on with coding and contribute to a culture where curiosity is encouraged and success is recognised.
- Lead and mentor a squad of junior engineers and graduates while remaining hands‑on with coding and solution design
- Develop high‑quality software using Java and Spring Boot, contributing to CI/CD and DevOps practices across the team
- Work with AWS services, including infrastructure‑as‑code approaches such as CDK, to build scalable cloud platforms
- Support agile ceremonies, guide technical decisions and help shape the team’s engineering standards
- Collaborate with product owners, architects and site reliability engineers to refine requirements and deliver robust, well‑tested solutions
What you’ll need
- Strong hands‑on experience with Java and Spring Boot, with a passion for quality‑first coding
- Experience working with AWS, ideally including CDK or other infrastructure‑as‑code tools
- Familiarity with observability tools such as Datadog or equivalents
- Experience leading or mentoring engineers, supporting agile ways of working and running stand‑ups or ceremonies
- Knowledge of asynchronous technologies, APIs, CI/CD pipelines or cloud‑native architectures (Kafka experience beneficial)
