Apply for the Senior Infrastructure Engineer (Automation-First)
Location: Greater London
Job Description:

The Client – Investment Firm (via Tempest Vane Partners)

We’re partnering with a globally recognised, technology-driven investment firm to hire a Senior Infrastructure Engineer to help design and automate large-scale hybrid infrastructure across Windows and cloud environments.

This is a hands‑on engineering role focused on automation, reliability, and platform scalability, not ticket‑based support.

What you’ll work on

You’ll be responsible for designing and improving core infrastructure systems that support large-scale, data-intensive workloads:

  • Build and evolve Windows‑based infrastructure (Active Directory, core services, enterprise systems)
  • Develop and maintain Infrastructure‑as‑Code (Terraform, Ansible, Puppet, or similar)
  • Automate operational processes and reduce manual workload
  • Support and expand Azure and AWS cloud environments
  • Improve system performance, reliability, and observability
  • Work closely with engineers and traders on high‑performance systems

What we’re looking for:

You don’t need to tick every box, but strong experience in several of the following is important:

  • Strong scripting/coding ability (PowerShell, Python, Go, or Shell)
  • Experience with Infrastructure‑as‑Code tools (Terraform, Ansible, Puppet, etc.)
  • Strong Windows infrastructure knowledge (Active Directory, Windows Server, enterprise environments)
  • Understanding of storage, virtualisation, and distributed systems
  • Experience with AWS and/or Azure
  • Exposure to monitoring, logging, and observability tooling
  • A mindset focused on automation, ownership, and continuous improvement

Why this role

  • High‑impact engineering work in a business‑critical environment
  • Full ownership of systems, build and run responsibility
  • Significant scope for automation and platform modernisation
  • Work in a lean engineering team with low bureaucracy
  • Direct exposure to large‑scale, performance‑sensitive systems

Ideal background

This role may suit engineers from:

  • SRE / DevOps roles
  • Windows‑heavy enterprise environments moving into cloud
  • Financial services or similarly complex regulated environments

If you’re open to a confidential conversation, apply or message directly.

We’re especially interested in engineers who enjoy solving complex infrastructure problems with automation‑first thinking.
