About the role

Unite Students have a great opportunity for a Senior Data Analyst to join our team on a 12‑month fixed‑term basis in our Bristol office. The Senior Data Analyst is a key member of the Data & Insight team, playing a critical role in integrating data analysis and reporting following the acquisition of a new company. This is a 12‑month fixed‑term role, focused on ensuring the business has clear, consistent and trusted insight during a period of change. Reporting into the Data Science Lead, the role works closely with other technical teams and senior business stakeholders to align data, establish reporting standards and embed high‑quality analysis into business‑as‑usual processes.

What you’ll be doing

  • Leading analytical work to align, reconcile and compare data across legacy and newly acquired systems.
  • Developing and maintaining high‑quality dashboards using Tableau.
  • Using Databricks to access and analyse large and complex datasets.
  • Partnering closely with data engineering, BI and other technical teams to support data integration and reporting solutions.
  • Engaging with senior stakeholders to understand requirements, clearly explain insights, and influence decision‑making through data.
  • Translating complex analysis into clear, actionable recommendations for non‑technical audiences.
  • Delivering business‑wide insight through KPI reporting, statistical modelling, data quality assurance and targeted ad‑hoc analysis.
  • Acting as a role model for analytical best practice and supporting other analysts where appropriate.

Qualifications

  • Strong experience in data analysis and reporting, using SQL, Python and Tableau or similar.
  • Experience working with a data warehouse/lakehouse or cloud data platforms such as Databricks or Snowflake.
  • Confidence working with senior stakeholders, including presenting findings and recommendations.
  • Ability to prioritise, deliver at pace, meet deadlines and operate effectively in a fast‑moving environment.
  • Comfortable working autonomously while collaborating closely with cross‑functional teams.
  • Proven ability to connect to, combine and analyse data from multiple systems and sources.
  • Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills, with a strong focus on data quality.
  • Experience translating business questions into analytical approaches and clear insights.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, particularly for non‑technical audiences.
  • A degree (or equivalent experience) in a numerate or analytical discipline.
