Contract Civil Engineer (Drainage Design) – Outside IR35

Rate: £35‑£45 per hourContract Length: Minimum 6 monthsIR35 Status: Outside IR35

The Opportunity

We are working with a well‑established, design‑led civil and structural engineering consultancy known for delivering high‑quality projects across a range of sectors. Due to increased workload, they are looking for an experienced Contract Civil Engineer with a strong focus on drainage design to support project delivery over an initial 6‑month period.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and delivery of surface water and foul drainage systems
  • Prepare detailed drainage strategies, calculations, and reports
  • Design SuDS solutions in line with current UK standards and best practice
  • Liaise with local authorities, water companies, and external stakeholders (e.g. Section 104/106 agreements)
  • Support projects from concept through to detailed design and construction

Requirements

  • Proven experience in drainage design within a consultancy environment
  • Strong working knowledge of Causeway Flow or InfoDrainage
  • Experience delivering SuDS and drainage strategies
  • Familiarity with Civil 3D or Site 3D (desirable)
  • Ability to work autonomously in a contract role and manage deadlines effectively
