A very interesting interim opportunity has arisen for an experienced Risk and Assurance Adviser to support a central government department.
Working as part of a small Risk and Assurance team, and closely with senior leaders across the department, the postholder will provide expert advice on organisational and enterprise risk. The role will involve identifying, capturing and assessing a range of strategic and operational risks across the department and its associated arms-length bodies, to provide senior management with a clear and consolidated view of key risk exposures. This work will play an important role in strengthening the department’s overall approach to risk management.
A key element of the role will be engaging with a broad range of stakeholders to gather risk information, apply appropriate risk ratings, and ensure risks are clearly articulated and reported for senior management and governance forums.
You will bring a strong background in risk management, assurance or internal audit, ideally gained within the public sector or a similarly complex and regulated environment. You will have a sound understanding of enterprise-level risk, experience of working with senior stakeholders, and excellent communication skills. The ability to build effective relationships, challenge constructively, and produce clear, meaningful outputs will be essential. Current government security clearance is essential, and applicants must already hold appropriate clearance; clearance cannot be sponsored for this role.
This is a hybrid role, requiring two days per week on site, with the remainder worked remotely.
For the right individual, this is a genuinely engaging interim opportunity, offering valuable insight into government and the chance to make a tangible contribution to the management of risk within a complex organisation.
