Consultant Ophthalmologist – Oculoplastics
Location: Cardiff Eye Unit, University Hospital of Wales and University Hospital Llandough. This full‑time post may offer flexible working arrangements.
Responsibilities
Provide specialist ophthalmic care across a diverse patient population, develop and audit clinical services, and participate in multidisciplinary teams. Attend on‑call rota (currently 1 in 12) and contribute to service improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
- Registered on the GMC Specialist Register for Ophthalmology or a Specialist Registrar within six months of expected CCT receipt.
- FRCOphth or equivalent qualification.
- Broad training and experience in Ophthalmology with a focus on oculoplastics.
- Completion of at least one year of Oculoplastics Fellowship training.
- Experience in orbital work and virtual working/EPR systems.
- Evidence of participation in clinical audit and understanding of audit in medical practice.
- Evidence of proactive engagement with appraisal and revalidation (or equivalent).
- Evidence of effective team and multidisciplinary working.
- Effective and demonstrable communication skills.
Desirable
- Additional experience in specialist oculoplastic procedures.
- Experience with research, audit, or service development activities.
Salary
£114,099 – £166,585 per annum, based on experience and competencies.
