About the Role
We are currently recruiting for an experienced External Lighting Engineer to join a growing and reputable electrical services provider. This is a field-based role covering sites across London, with a strong focus on South London and surrounding areas.
Working Monday to Friday, 08:00 – 17:00, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of external and street lighting systems across social housing and local authority environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, and service street lighting furniture including columns, feeder pillars, lit signs, and bollards
- Interpret underground cable drawings and specifications for installations
- Diagnose and resolve faults, including underground cable issues using CAT & Genny equipment
- Carry out groundworks such as trenching, ducting, and excavation
- Perform routine visual inspections and electrical testing
- Repair or replace lighting components including lamps, ballasts, ignitors, photocells, and lanterns
- Complete installations of external lighting systems such as floodlights and bulkheads
- Ensure all work complies with BS 7671 and current health & safety regulations
- Accurately complete job reports and documentation via mobile systems
About You
- Proven experience within street lighting or external lighting
- Strong understanding of electrical safety standards and legislation
- Proactive and safety-conscious approach to work
- Confident using mobile technology for reporting and certification
- Strong organisational and communication skills
- Reliable, detail-oriented, and accountable
Requirements
- Electrical Level 3 Diploma (essential)
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (essential)
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar role
- IPAF 1b (essential)
- Full UK Driving Licence
- GS39, NRSWA or 2391 (desirable only – not essential)
Working Pattern & Overtime
Monday to Friday, 08:00 – 17:00
No regular overtime requirement
