Overview
We are recruiting a Document Automation Engineer to join our growing Technology function and play a key role in shaping how technology solutions are used across the firm. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who wants to design, develop and scale intelligent solutions that enhance efficiency, quality and client delivery. You’ll collaborate closely with legal and Innovation teams to translate real business challenges into practical, technology‑driven solutions.
In this role, you’ll focus on designing and developing document automation and AI‑enabled workflows, supporting the use of client‑facing interactive portals, and helping maximise the value of our existing legal technology tools. You’ll take ownership of delivering accurate, compliant and user‑friendly solutions, while also playing an important part in driving adoption—training, supporting and empowering colleagues to embrace new ways of working. Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain AI workflows, automation workflows and templates.
- Implement process automation solutions to streamline legal operations.
- Conduct testing and quality assurance checks on automated documents to ensure accuracy and compliance with relevant legal standards and regulations.
- Maximise the usage for procured AI solutions within the Legal teams.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend innovative solutions to improve legal service delivery.
- Promote and embed existing tools (e.g. HighQ, Definely, Kira, Orbital Witness) across the legal teams.
- Work closely with legal and Innovation teams to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Provide technical support and training to end‑users on implemented solutions.
- Provide training to members of the innovation team to support their drive for greater adoption.
- Ensure all solutions comply with legal industry standards, data privacy regulations, and cybersecurity best practices.
Desired qualifications
- Strong experience in document automation techniques.
- Able to demonstrate familiarity with AI technologies and its application.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills to identify and address document automation challenges.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively collaborate with legal teams and stakeholders.
- High level of attention to detail to ensure accuracy and compliance in automated documents.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
Desirable Skills
- Understanding of legal terminology, document types, and compliance requirements.
- Knowledge of Power Automate and scripting.
- Experience with deployed solutions – NetDocuments, Avvoka, HighQ including Contract Express.
Benefits
- Salary reflective of experience, circa £55,000 depending on experience.
- Earn up to 10% of your salary with our annual bonus scheme.
- Minimum of 25 days annual leave plus Bank Holidays per year, increasing to 31 days with length of service, with the opportunity to buy up to 5 days holiday per year.
