Overview

Leyton Green Road is a Children’s Residential and Respite Service Home. As Centre Manager, you are required to provide strategic leadership and day‑to‑day management, ensuring high‑quality care and support for children with learning disabilities and associated needs. The role ensures the smooth running of services, promotes the wellbeing and safeguarding of children, and supports their development and aspirations for adulthood. It also involves overseeing staff, budgets, and resources, maintaining compliance with health and safety standards, building relationships with families, professionals, and the wider community, leading continuous improvement, and shaping the centre’s vision and culture.

Responsibilities

  • Fulfil all duties and responsibilities of a Registered Manager as required by the Children’s Home Regulations.
  • Ensure Children and Young People achieve positive and agreed outcomes in line with their care plans.
  • Prepare and present a full range of reports to the appropriate timescales.
  • Contribute to strategic planning and development of services for children with disabilities and complex needs.
  • Ensure the unit complies with the Centre’s Statement of Purpose.
  • Regularly and frequently seek the views of service users, parent/carers, social workers and staff employed at the Centre.
  • Oversee the supervision of a total of 32 staff members; two Deputy Managers assist in supervising staff in residential and respite.
  • Promote activities for children and ensure their voices are heard using appropriate communication tools such as PECS, Makaton, etc.
  • Lead continuous improvement across the service, ensuring it meets regulatory standards and reflects best practice.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Registered Manager status.
  • Experience and knowledge of managing Children’s homes in the last 3 years.
  • Vast knowledge of Children Homes Regulations, Guidelines and Requirements, including safeguarding.
  • Conversant with Ofsted inspections and progressing recommendations.
  • Ideally conversant with Mosaic case management recording system.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft tools.

  • Members of staff in public‑facing roles must speak fluent English, with a command of spoken English, confidence and accuracy, sufficient for the effective performance of their role. This requirement does not refer to any particular English language qualifications, regional or international accents, dialects, speech impediments or the tone of conversations. It does not require staff to speak only in English.
