Our Client is an Energy technology company are seeking to recruit Project Procurement Manager and this is a hybrid role in Manchester. The role is for a Inside IR35 contract for 9 months. Our client has 150-year legacy of innovation and will focus on energy transformation, new technologies, decarbonization and Innovative leading-edge technology.

The Role

As Procurement Manager, you will be a key member of the Project Team, integrating procurement into the project management process and managing all procurement activities from strategy through to delivery. You will develop and implement procurement strategies for assigned projects (up to £15m), leading RFQs, supplier negotiations, selection and purchase order award in line with company procedures.

The responsibilities

  • Lead procurement activities for allocated A & B projects (£100m+), including tendering, sourcing, ordering and close‑out.
  • Develop and manage strategic and key supplier relationships, including supplier development for high‑value commodities (£5m+).
  • Support commercial and tendering teams through defined procurement strategies, negotiations and compliant LoA processes.
  • Ensure robust Terms & Conditions, risk management and supply‑chain mitigation aligned to procurement strategy.
  • Maintain key procurement data, plans and governance documents (e.g. Procurement Plans, Bid Comparisons, Jedox, Sourcing Boards).
  • Drive process improvements, e‑Business and SAP optimisation, and support implementation of BI and other improvement programmes.
  • Monitor market trends and share insights across project teams and UK divisions, promoting best practice and collaboration.
  • Ensure full compliance with company policies, business conduct guidelines and confidentiality requirements.

Key Skills and experience required for the Project Procurement Manager role

  • Ideally holding or working towards: – CIPS qualification level 6 and working towards MCIPS or equivalent experience.
  • Product Procurement or Operational Procurement experience.
  • Construction experience and NEC forms of contract experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a procurement department.
  • Commercial / contractual experience in negotiating Terms and Conditions for: – Individual Purchases up to £5M in Value – Management of Commodities with spend up to £5M per annum. – Negotiation of Frameworks with spend over £10M per annum.
  • Strong knowledge of purchasing techniques and skills associated with the procurement of manufacturing and project equipment, goods and services.
  • A sound knowledge of contract law, with practical experience of their application to procurement projects.
  • Expertise in utilising logistical concepts, including in depth knowledge of INCOTERMS.
  • Experience of giving presentations /chairing meetings
