WSP’s Land team is seeking a talented senior project manager to join our Project Management Office (PMO) and support the delivery of numerous projects within WSP’s Land Team. Clients include leading names in aviation, highway, rail, energy & water. This role focuses on land assembly, consulting, land access, statutory consents, compensation agreements and land acquisition across the UK and Ireland.

Responsibilities

  • Manage project scope and change control process.
  • Manage and review project programme timelines, including monitoring critical path, resource pinch points, delivery of milestones, and internal reporting.
  • Serve as the primary interface with client teams to provide regular updates and manage expectations.
  • Manage project budget, financial performance, and associated reporting.
  • Forecast costs to complete and provide EVM reporting to client using specified methods and processes.
  • Manage project risks and opportunities in line with client and business expectations.
  • Ensure alignment between forecasts and actuals for project resources and costs.
  • Implement scheduling controls so the project is appropriately resourced to meet programme demands.
  • Oversee project controls using both WSP and client systems.
  • Ensure that quality procedures are adhered to through discussions with technical delivery teams.
  • Ensure safety, health, and wellbeing of the project team.
  • Provide leadership on opportunities and bids as required by the business.
  • Identify process improvements that positively affect delivery.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to junior/assistant project managers locally and across the UK business.
  • Manage contracts and supplier/subcontractor relationships.

Qualifications

  • Appropriate degree qualification in a relevant discipline.
  • Membership of a Professional Institution.
  • Ability to interrogate, question, and challenge information.
  • Ability to coordinate the submission of highly detailed deliverables to predetermined deadlines.
  • Understanding of project management, project controls and procedures normally associated with a major project.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, including Excel, Project and Word.
  • Good interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with colleagues, landowners and clients at all levels.
  • Demonstrated financial literacy, with the ability to understand and manage project financial information.

Desirable

  • Project Management experience and working knowledge of the land consents and planning process.
  • APM Project Management Qualification (PMQ) or Project Fundamentals Qualifications.
  • Experience that provides an understanding of land use and ownership (Geography, Land/Estate management, Surveying & Agricultural) – desirable but not required.

Location

The role can be based in Edinburgh, Glasgow, or Perth with the flexibility of hybrid working between these locations and from home.
