An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic candidate to join the Information Governance team in the role of Information Governance Officer.
The Information Governance Officer will work collaboratively within the Information Governance team to support the Trust’s aims and objectives in relation to compliance with key legislation such as the UK General Data Protection Regulation and Data Protection Act, as well as the Data Security and Protection Toolkit and the information risk management framework.
Responsibilities
- Support the Information Governance department in relation to information risk management and assurance.
- Assist in ensuring compliance with the annual Data Security and Protection Toolkit submission, including taking the lead on audit requirements as delegated.
- Work with key stakeholders across the Trust to ensure that the required information risk assurance work is undertaken in line with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure staff and stakeholders are aware of and carrying out their responsibilities under the UK GDPR and Data Protection Act.
- Assist patients and members of the public with exercising their rights, including processing requests for access to information.
- Substantially contribute to information‑related governance incident investigations.
Qualifications
- Prior knowledge or experience of governance, risk or information management within the public sector, ideally within a health and care setting.
- Experience of responding to challenging queries using research and negotiation skills, and relaying complex information in an easily understandable manner.
- Inquisitive, detail‑oriented, and able to work proactively, without supervision, and under one’s own initiative.

Location & Working Conditions
Base Location: Hybrid working required across all sites. In case of relocation as part of a planned move, excess mileage will not be reimbursed; travel from home to the new work base will be classed as a normal commute. Any other changes will be managed under Trust or national terms and conditions.
