Overview

This is an exciting opportunity to work within the Thriving Places Directorate within the Sustainable Transport and Highways Team. This team develops and delivers strategies, policies, and projects to support inclusive, sustainable and integrated Highways projects across the Westmorland & Furness area.

This is a key post based within Highways, supporting the development of a variety of Highway related projects.

This role will provide a programme control function for Highway projects.

As part of this role, you will:

  • Manage and control a wide variety of programme delivery information including financial data, programme milestones, approvals and both internal and external reporting requirements.
  • Project manage small to medium scale projects.
  • Support project or programme leads in the management of large, complex or high value projects or programmes.
  • Support the delivery of projects within a programme of activity.

Who we are looking for…

  • Experience of project or programme management techniques and methodologies.
  • Experience of operating IT systems and software (including Microsoft Excel)
  • Ability to work systematically and to effectively prioritise tasks.
  • Positive approach to team working.
  • Solution-focussed with ability to resolve challenges through own initiative.

This role is primarily based in Kendal though we are supportive of a hybrid approach to working, including from our offices in Penrith and Barrow.
