Clinical Trials Operations Manager: Digital (INTERNAL FOR UCL EMPLOYEES ONLY)
The Cancer Research UK & UCL Cancer Trials Centre (CTC) is part of the Cancer Institute at University College London.
The CTC is responsible for the development and conduct of clinical trials to evaluate new approaches to the treatment of cancer and is a UKCRC Registered Clinical Trials Unit. The CTC has a portfolio which includes multicentre phase III trials using survival, tumour response and quality of life as endpoints. The portfolio also encompasses phase I and II, some with biological endpoints, and there is an interest in screening studies within the organisation. CTC staff collaborate with clinicians and research staff in the UK and abroad. The CTC Director is Allan Hackshaw, Professor of Epidemiology & Medical Statistics at UCL.
About the role
As a key member of the CTC Senior Management team, the post holder will provide strategic leadership for the newly established CTC Digital Services team. This team integrates IT network and infrastructure, database systems, web services and the digital components of Data Science into a cohesive future‑focused function.
The postholder will lead and manage a multidisciplinary team, including IT infrastructure, Clinical Database and Data Science professionals, ensuring the delivery of a secure, scalable and high‑performing digital infrastructure. This includes oversight and management of virtualisation platforms, servers, storage, workstations, web and database servers, and local information security.

About you
The postholder should have proven leadership experience in managing complex IT service & technical requirements, across a broad range of specialisms including infrastructure, applications, databases, web platforms, and end‑user computing.
The postholder should also have experience of leading cross‑functional teams and expertise in the governance, sharing, and secure management of large‑scale datasets.
