Job Description:

Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

Private Equity-Backed Infrastructure & Renewable Energy Investment Platform

Location: London (Hybrid)

Working Pattern: Full-Time, Monday–Friday

Reporting to: Chief Operating Officer (COO)

Overview

We are partnering with a high-growth, private equity-backed investment platform focused on infrastructure and renewable energy assets across Europe. As the business enters its next phase of scale, we are seeking a Chief Financial Officer to join the executive leadership team.

The platform already benefits from a highly capable and technically strong finance function, led by an experienced Finance Director and a wider finance team with deep expertise across fund accounting, multi-jurisdictional structures, and investment operations. This role is therefore focused on strategic leadership, capital management, and investor engagement, rather than day-to-day finance execution.

You will work closely with the CEO and COO to drive capital strategy, support investment activity, and lead engagement with institutional stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Investor & Private Equity Management

  • Act as the primary financial interface with the Private Equity sponsor and institutional investors
  • Lead board-level reporting, including IRR performance, fund returns, and portfolio analytics
  • Support investor communications, capital reporting, and governance processes

Capital Strategy & Structuring

  • Define and execute the platform’s capital strategy alongside the CEO and COO
  • Lead debt structuring, refinancing, and financing arrangements across the portfolio
  • Oversee equity raises and due diligence processes with new and existing investors

Strategic Financial Leadership

  • Drive long-term value creation through asset-level and portfolio-level strategy
  • Oversee business planning, forecasting, and capital allocation decisions
  • Provide commercial insight into investment performance and yield optimisation

Oversight of Finance Function

  • Provide leadership and strategic direction to the Finance Director and broader finance team
  • Oversee fund operations, including NAV reporting, consolidations, and multi-entity structures
  • Ensure robust financial governance, controls, and regulatory compliance across jurisdiction

Platform Scaling & Institutionalisation

  • Support the continued professionalisation and scaling of the platform
  • Ensure systems and reporting tools (including Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and Microsoft Power BI) deliver meaningful insights for decision-making
  • Drive operational efficiency and readiness for increased transaction volume

Investment & Portfolio Analysis

  • Oversee financial modelling and underwriting for new acquisitions
  • Stress-test investment cases against return thresholds and fund objectives
  • Monitor and report on fund and asset-level performance, including IRR tracking

Candidate Profile

Experience

  • Proven CFO or senior finance leadership experience within Private Equity, Infrastructure, or Investment Management
  • Strong track record operating in PE-backed environments with exposure to institutional investors
  • Experience managing complex fund structures, SPVs, and multi-jurisdictional operations

Technical Expertise

  • Deep understanding of project finance, capital structures, and leveraged financing
  • Experience in capital raising, refinancing, and investor due diligence processes
  • Strong financial modelling and investment appraisal capabilities

Leadership & Mindset

  • Strategic, commercially focused, and comfortable operating at board level
  • Experience scaling platforms through high-growth phases
  • Collaborative leadership style, able to partner effectively with executive teams

Qualifications

  • ACA, ACCA, or equivalent professional accounting qualification
  • Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related discipline
  • Additional qualifications (e.g. MBA) are advantageous but not essential
