Salary

£25,760 to £27,476 per annum

Hours & Shift Pattern

Average 37.5 hours per week on an 8‑week rolling rota, 24/7 shifts including early, day, late, night, weekends and bank holidays. Pay enhancements are provided for unsocial working hours.

Role Summary

As a Switchboard Operator you will be the voice and first point of contact for clients and visitors. You will manage incoming calls, route them accurately, and provide timely information while maintaining a welcoming and professional demeanor.

Responsibilities

  • Handle and route all incoming calls efficiently, ensuring no caller is left waiting.
  • Maintain accurate message logs and relay messages promptly to the appropriate parties.
  • Manage multiple phone lines and switchboard systems with technical proficiency.
  • Provide the first point of call for troubleshooting and forward complex queries to relevant staff.
  • Operate in a wide range of shifts, including unsocial hours, while adhering to health and safety standards.

Qualifications

  • Stellar phone etiquette and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent problem‑solving ability and composure under pressure.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and excellent organisational skills.
  • Experience with multi‑line switchboard operations and related systems.
  • Good communication skills and a friendly demeanour.
