Quality Inspector – Precision Engineering (Aerospace & Motorsport)

Location: Sittingbourne

Full‑time | Permanent | Competitive Salary

We’re looking for a skilled Quality Inspector to join a leading precision engineering team supplying high‑performance parts to the aerospace and motorsport sectors.

About the Role

As a Quality Inspector, you will be responsible for ensuring CNC‑machined components meet all engineering drawings, customer specifications, and industry quality standards before release. You’ll use a wide range of precision inspection tools and support continuous improvement across the production process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspect precision CNC‑machined components to aerospace and motorsport tolerances.
  • Operate and programme CMMs (Coordinate Measuring Machines) to verify complex part geometry.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and customer specifications.
  • Complete First Article Inspection Reports (FAIR/FAI) to required standards.
  • Use a full range of metrology tools: micrometers, verniers, height gauges, bore gauges, thread gauges, surface finish testers, etc.
  • Maintain accurate inspection records and documentation.
  • Identify, log, and report non‑conformances; support root‑cause investigation and corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with production, engineering, and quality teams to support continuous improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with AS9100 / ISO9001 quality management systems.
  • Assist with internal and external audits when required.

Skills & Experience Required

  • Experience inspecting precision CNC‑machined components.
  • Proficient in CMM operation and programming (any software considered).
  • Experience completing FAIR / FAI documentation.
  • Strong ability to read engineering drawings and GD&T.
  • Excellent use of precision measurement tools and inspection equipment.
  • High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and problem‑solving ability.
  • Background in aerospace, motorsport, or high‑precision engineering is highly desirable.
