Warehouse Shift Manager Nights

As a Shift Manager you will manage, lead and coordinate the warehouse day shift. Coordinating daily warehousing activities and employees, ensuring targets are achieved and customer requirements are met. Implement production, productivity, quality and customer service standards and achieve the appropriate level of volume within time limits. Ensure that daily operations meet and exceed daily performance expectations.

Responsibilities

• Manage and guide Shift Leaders to achieve warehouse targets and KPIs in a safe, efficient manner, contributing to an atmosphere where employees are encouraged to volunteer ideas and engage as a team.
• Achieve high levels of customer satisfaction through excellence in receiving, dispatching, and assuring quality goods – promoting SAP system processes and handling colleague non‑compliance appropriately.
• Determine appropriate staffing levels based on planned workload and assign resources accordingly – supporting investigations, disciplinary actions and managing absence & attendance.
• Use employee productivity and performance data to review performance, identifying opportunities for reward and recognition for high performers to the Warehouse Manager.
• Maintain stock integrity through goods‑in checking, goods‑out checking and a scheduled perpetual inventory programme.
• Maintain all record‑keeping and document necessary information for a clear handover to management on the following shift.
• Pro‑actively identify improvement opportunities liaising with Health & Safety, Quality & ESG, Continuous Improvement and Warehouse Management.
• Deal with any discrepancies found, ensure corrective action is taken and, if necessary, report immediately to the Warehouse Manager.
• Be aware of and adhere to the Company’s Health & Safety Policy, taking responsibility for the health, safety, environmental and welfare of yourself and others.

Qualifications

• Experience leading a team in a warehousing/logistics environment at a supervisory or shift‑manager level.
• Ability to motivate and engage a team, develop and maintain a culture of employee involvement and provide coaching where required.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, time‑management and organisational skills enabling you to direct and coordinate operations.
• Ability to engage cross‑functionally (e.g., with GHT/Transport/Customer Services) to ensure all relevant parties are involved and handovers are correctly completed.
• Knowledge and experience of health and safety principles, preferably with IOSH standard.
• Excellent computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office and WMS (SAP, Microlise, Contrado, Capture IT – advantageous).
