Role: EMC Test Engineer / Proving Engineer

Location: Hertfordshire

Job Type: Perm, Full Time, Onsite

Join a hands on engineering team testing advanced defence systems in challenging electromagnetic environments. You’ll help prove that a system meets performance and certification requirements.

Role Overview

Reporting to the Trials Proving Lead, you will plan, execute and report on EMC and environmental trials across the product lifecycle—from development through to qualification and certification.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and set up EMC test trials, including instrumentation and data capture
  • Prepare and support trial readiness reviews (safety, equipment, facilities)
  • Coordinate test activities, logistics, and equipment availability
  • Conduct hands-on testing in specialist facilities (e.g. anechoic/reverberation chambers)
  • Record, analyse and interpret test data against requirements
  • Produce clear technical reports to support verification and certification
  • Act as the interface between engineering teams and test facilities
  • Support development of EMC proving capability and methods

Requirements

Essential

  • Hands-on systems/test engineering experience
  • Understanding of EMC and RF behaviour and testing
  • Strong attention to detail and structured approach
  • Ability to analyse and report complex data
  • Effective communication and stakeholder coordination
  • Proactive, problem-solving mindset

Desirable

  • Knowledge of military/EMC standards (e.g. Def-Stan, MIL-STD)
  • Background in Electronics, Electrical, RF, Physics or similar
  • Experience with EMC test facilities and equipment
