Job Description:

Finance Manager – Finance Systems & Transformation | Major UK Retailer

London or Manchester (Hybrid, 3 days)

Up to £90,000 + Bonus + Benefits

Shape the future finance systems landscape for one of the UK’s most recognisable retailers, enabling them to continue their impressive growth trajectory.

It is a Finance Systems role but you’ll have commercial impact. You’re bridging the gap between the finance systems teams, finance teams and operational teams to ensure financial reporting and analytics are best set up to support commercial decision making.

The business is two years from go-live on a major transformation. This role sits at the centre of it. You’ll own BAU delivery across month-end and budget/forecast cycles, while simultaneously leading the design and delivery of the new finance reporting, analytics and planning landscape.

There’s a team of three direct reports, and stakeholder relationships that span Group FP&A, Group Reporting, technology, and the wider business.

The package includes a strong bonus scheme, up to 12% employer contribution pension, staff discount, Sharesave scheme, and a comprehensive wellbeing package.

What you’ll do

Your work will centre around three areas:

Systems & BAU delivery

You’ll own month-end and the budget/forecast cycle. That means overseeing delivery end-to-end, managing stakeholders across finance and technology, and getting into the detail when issues arise. Calm under pressure and accuracy under time constraints both matter here.

Transformation

You’ll lead delivery of the future-state finance reporting and planning landscape as part of the S4 HANA programme. Project ownership, stakeholder alignment, UAT coordination, and working with development teams to translate finance requirements into working solutions fit for a listed business.

Team Leadership

You’ll manage three people. There’s a mix of experience and tenure in the team, so you’ll need to be happy being hands on at times when coaching, whilst being as comfortable operating more strategically as well.

What you’ll need

  • Qualified accountant (CIMA, ACA, or ACCA)
  • Proven BPC experience – essential
  • A clear track record of picking up new platforms quickly
  • Strong stakeholder influencing and project management capabilities
  • Background in a large, complex organisation – retail preferred

About the business

This is one of the UK’s most recognised retailers, operating at significant scale and internationally known. The finance function is mid-transformation, with new systems and a clear ambition for best-in-class reporting and analytics. And the organisation on the whole is on an impressive growth trajectory.

It’s a complex environment, but that’s what makes the role interesting. The person coming in will have real influence over how finance system capabilities are built from here in.
