Overview

We are looking for a Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner (PWP) to join our NHS Talking Therapies service in Wandsworth. The service provides evidence‑based psychological interventions for common mental health problems within a stepped care model to adults within primary care.

Responsibilities

  • Offer comprehensive triage assessments and low intensity therapeutic services for adults with common mental health problems (depression and anxiety disorders).
  • Provide brief telephone‑based triage assessments and deliver NICE‑supported low intensity treatments such as guided self‑help and CBT‑based psycho‑educational courses.
  • Deliver a minimum of 24 booked and 20 completed clinical contact hours per week.
  • Formulate and implement treatment plans based on an appropriate conceptual framework and evidence of treatment efficacy.
  • Use specialist assessments, structured interviews, questionnaires, rating scales, and guided inquiry.
  • Conduct risk assessment and management, including risk of self‑harm, and provide advice on psychological aspects of risk.
  • Contribute to the development of new and existing group CBT programmes for patients with anxiety disorders and/or depression.
  • Communicate assessment, formulation and treatment plans sensitively, monitor progress and record in line with service protocols.
  • Complete all data collection and record‑keeping requirements, using outcomes to inform clinical decisions.
  • Work closely with team members to ensure appropriate step‑up and step‑down arrangements, integrating issues of work and employment into therapy.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Strong academic background in behavioural sciences (upper second or first class degree).
  • Current Low Intensity PWP qualification (required).
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and experience working with people who have mental health problems.

Working Arrangement

You will be based at our office in Tooting Broadway, with opportunities to work remotely from home and deliver face‑to‑face, telephone and digital programmes. The service offers evening appointments; flexible working is required.
