Associate Mechanical Engineer – Manchester (Data Centre Sector)

We are currently supporting a leading engineering consultancy in the built environment sector in the search for an experienced Associate Mechanical Engineer to join their growing team in Manchester.

This is an exciting opportunity to take a key role within a highly collaborative, multidisciplinary environment, with a strong focus on mission-critical and data centre projects, alongside other complex and high-profile developments across sectors such as commercial, residential, healthcare, and science & research.

You will play a pivotal role in both project delivery and team leadership, acting as a key point of contact for clients and ensuring the successful execution of mechanical design solutions from concept through to completion. This position offers genuine scope to influence project outcomes, support junior engineers, and contribute to the continued growth of the regional team.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading and delivering mechanical design on a variety of project types and scales, with emphasis on data centre projects
  • Managing client relationships and supporting business development opportunities
  • Coordinating multidisciplinary teams and ensuring seamless project delivery
  • Overseeing technical quality, resource planning, and project performance
  • Supporting and mentoring engineers within the team
  • Contributing to bids, proposals, and project strategy

About you:

  • Strong background as a Mechanical Engineer within a consultancy environment
  • Solid understanding of HVAC systems (heating, ventilation, air conditioning)
  • Proven experience delivering complex, mission-critical or data centre projects
  • Confident using tools such as Revit and AutoCAD
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach
  • Familiarity with relevant British Standards
  • Ability to manage workload, priorities, and client expectations effectively
