About the role
Office Technical Specialist based in the Slough Offices. You will provide technical advice to field teams, triage incidents, make decisions on reactive works across the waste network, and ensure high‑quality data and efficient use of resources. The role is hybrid and shift‑based.
Key accountabilities
- Raise and sign off planned and remedial work for the waste network, balancing operational benefit, cost and outcome for the customer.
- Coordinate reactive and planned technical activities to minimise customer impact.
- Provide technical support for a wide range of stakeholders via multiple media.
- Ensure field teams achieve “first time fix” wherever possible.
- Support incidents such as pollutions, flooding, blockages and collapses – triage, advice and follow‑up work.
- Review customer cases, give clear feedback and tailor work packages.
- Decide on solutions that minimise environmental impact.
- Work with Civil Engineers to find cost‑effective solutions that extend or upgrade the network.
- Collaborate with stakeholders and teams to support their objectives.
- Ensure all processes, data and evidence meet regulatory requirements.
Required skills and experience
- Understanding of drainage and waste networks is an advantage but not essential.
- Education to A-level or equivalent, or equivalent experience.
- Sound knowledge of Health & Safety regulations.
- Positive mindset; ability to work alone and as part of a team.
- Evidence of building strong stakeholder relationships.
- Strong problem‑solving skills.
- Ownership of issues and ability to see them through to completion.
- Excellent verbal and written communication across all levels.
- Excellent attention to detail; record accurate high‑quality information.
- Proficiency with company IT systems and office software.
