The Capgemini Financial Services Open Banking Centre of Excellence (COE) partners with leading banks to transform their Digital Client Self‑Service capabilities through API‑first, cloud‑native solutions.
As a Solution Architect, you will drive the design and delivery of end‑to‑end digital journeys—many of which require extensive collaboration across groups and functions beyond Corporate Banking. You will play a central role in architecting self‑service capabilities such as CONA, Sanctions, and Mandates journeys, ensuring they are secure, scalable, compliant, and optimised for a seamless customer experience.
The places that you work from day to day will vary according to your role, your needs, and those of the business; it will be a blend of Company offices, client sites, and your home; noting that you will be unable to work at home 100% of the time.
Your Role
Digital Client Self‑Service Architecture
- Lead solution architecture for digital client self‑service capabilities, enabling clients to manage onboarding, permissions, mandates, sanctions checks, and account services through intuitive digital channels.
- Define target‑state digital journeys and API‑driven architectures that support straight‑through, real‑time, and self‑service execution for Corporate clients.
End‑to‑End Journey Design (Cross‑Group Collaboration)
- Own architecture for complex E2E journeys requiring collaboration across the wider Group, including Retail, Wealth, Payments, Compliance, Operations, and Legal.
- Ensure all upstream and downstream dependencies are captured, orchestrated, and aligned with regulatory, operational, and customer‑experience expectations.
Specialist Journey Ownership
- CONA (Customer Onboarding & Amendments): Architect the API, workflow, and data models enabling seamless client onboarding and profile amendments across multiple business lines.
- Sanctions Journeys: Design secure and compliant integrations with sanctions screening platforms, ensuring adherence to regulatory obligations, rapid decisioning, and traceability.
- Mandates & Authorisations: Define solutions for digital mandate management, including entitlement rules, signing authorities, approval workflows, and auditability.
Solution Delivery & Governance
- Produce high‑quality solution architecture artefacts: API specifications, integration maps, security patterns, sequence diagrams, and logical/physical designs.
- Engage stakeholders through workshops and design forums to align on solution direction and validate business and operational requirements.
- Present solutions to Architecture Review Boards and guide them through governance processes.
- Translate high‑level journeys into iterative, sprint‑ready components in partnership with delivery leads.
- Review designs and code from engineering teams to ensure alignment with architecture principles and end‑to‑end journey intent.
- Ensure change requests remain aligned with solution integrity and strategic architecture.
- Apply best practices in REST API design, authentication and authorization, security patterns, and microservices architecture.
- Promote enterprise‑wide standards around API modelling, documentation, versioning, and governance.
- Drive adoption of cloud‑native approaches, ensuring solutions leverage appropriate cloud services, resilience patterns, and observability frameworks.
Qualifications
- Strong experience designing digital client self‑service platforms, preferably in financial services or corporate banking.
- Proven delivery of E2E cross‑functional journeys, engaging multiple business units such as Operations, Compliance, Legal, and Customer Servicing.
- Experience architecting journeys related to onboarding, sanctions screening, mandates/authorisations, or similar regulated workflows.
- Deep knowledge of API architecture, REST design principles, Swagger/OpenAPI/RAML, and API security standards.
- Familiarity with API management platforms (MuleSoft, Apigee, Kong, AWS API Gateway).
- Hands‑on experience with microservices, Java/Spring Boot, and cloud‑native deployment patterns.
- Strong understanding of OAuth2, OIDC, FAPI, and enterprise security controls.
- Knowledge of observability and monitoring tools such as Splunk or ELK.
