As a Retail Manager you will lead an incredible team to encourage sales, provide excellent customer service and uphold the highest standards of stock and store presentation.
Job Description
You will be responsible for:
- Lead store operations, bringing energy and vision to create a memorable shopping experience.
- Utilise your eye for design and style to curate donated products through visual merchandising with enhanced feature displays and commercial windows to drive sales and footfall.
- Keep up to date with the latest fashion trends and local market demands, identifying opportunities for growth.
- Manage staff and volunteers, recruiting, training, supporting and ensuring effective store operation.
- Drive customer engagement, coaching volunteers and staff to have positive conversations, encouraging add‑on donations and signing customers up to the loyalty scheme.
- Ensure sales targets are met and direct costs are kept within managed budgets.
- Oversee all financial reporting, cash handling, daily banking and security procedures.
- Ensure donated goods are processed according to set standards and timeframes, with pricing in line with charity guidelines.
Key Criteria
- Solid retail experience, preferably in fashion or clothing.
- Experience in managing a team; managing volunteers would be an advantage.
- Comprehensive understanding of retailing and merchandising display.
- Experience of cash handling and financial management procedures, including completion of sales records.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a customer‑first attitude.
- Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise workload, balancing competing demands.
- Understanding of health and safety procedures in a retail environment.

Vacancy type: Permanent, full‑time
Location: Burgess Hill
Salary: £18,505.76 per annum plus benefits
Closing date: 24 h February – early applications are encouraged.
In this role you will have sole responsibility for the running of the store, involving lone working. Applicants under 18 are not suitable.
