Job Description:

Portsmouth Water is seeking an Asset Data Analyst to support effective management of asset data. In this role you will analyse, validate and interpret asset data to assist asset planners, engineers and operations teams in making informed decisions on investment planning, regulatory reporting and long‑term asset strategies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess asset condition, performance, risk, and lifecycle data to support planning and investment decisions.
  • Develop dashboards, reports and visualisations to communicate asset insights to technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Support regulatory reporting requirements (e.g., Ofwat returns, WINEP, DWMP) through accurate data preparation and submission.
  • Assist with the clarification, validation and reconciliation of asset data.
  • Identify and correct data anomalies, gaps and inconsistencies in asset records.
  • Work with data owners and operational teams to ensure data accuracy and completeness.
  • Support integration and use of asset management systems.
  • Collaborate with IT and Digital teams to improve data workflows, queries and reporting capabilities.
  • Provide data‑informed recommendations to improve asset performance, maintenance strategies and capital planning.
  • Support development of risk models and cost‑benefit analysis for asset interventions.
  • Assist in developing prioritisation models for asset investment and renewal programmes.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to understand key deliverables and requirements.
  • Contribute to cross‑functional initiatives related to digital transformation and asset intelligence.
  • Communicate technical data findings clearly and effectively to diverse audiences.

Qualifications – Essential

  • Strong analytical thinking and problem‑solving capabilities.
  • Strong attention to detail and data integrity.
  • Ability to communicate complex datasets effectively.
  • Ability to work across teams and functions.
  • Adaptability in a fast‑changing regulatory and digital environment.
  • Degree in Data Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Environmental Science or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in a data analysis or asset information role, preferably in utilities or infrastructure.
  • Proficiency in Excel, Power BI and SQL.
  • Understanding of asset lifecycle and water‑industry challenges.

Qualifications – Desirable

  • Familiarity with UK water‑sector regulations and frameworks (e.g., Ofwat, DWMP, WINEP).
  • Experience with asset‑management systems such as SAP, Maximo or Confirm.
  • Knowledge of ISO 55000 or other asset‑management standards.
  • Programming/scripting skills (Python, R) for advanced analytics.
