Specialist Study Skills Tutor SpLD (Higher Education)

Location and delivery

This is a hybrid role combining remote support with in-person sessions at UK universities.

We are currently recruiting SpLD Study Skills Tutors with availability in the following locations:

Remote, Aberystwyth, Bolton (Manchester), Cambridge, Cardiff, Chichester, Gainsborough, Gloucestershire, Lancashire, Newcastle, Oxford, Plymouth and Swansea.

Beacon Support Ltd. are recruiting Specialist One-to-One Study Skills Support Tutors to work with Higher Education students. The position offers flexible hours to work around you, whilst helping to make a difference to students’ educational experiences.

  • £35 per hour freelance/self-employed contract
  • Thorough induction training and staff development

  • Autonomy to manage own case load whilst still having ready access to a support manager

We have students with specific learning differences (SpLDs) including dyslexia, dyspraxia, dyscalculia, ADHD and ASC, who require one-to-one support with their higher education studies. Tutors work with an Individual Learning Plan (ILP) and act as facilitators to help students develop learning strategies that will improve their study skills and enable them to become independent learners.

Requirements

  • Experience in working with individuals with specific learning differences, ideally in higher or further education.
  • Educated to degree level.

This is a specialist role, therefore you must hold a professional membership with one of the following professional bodies: PATOSS, BDA, ADSHE or Dyslexia Guild.

  • Ability to maintain a confidential and professional working relationship
