Specialty Doctor post within the Coventry Community Learning Disability Team.
The position has a job plan of 7.5 PAs for Direct Clinical Care (DCC) and 2.5 PAs for Supporting Professional Activities (SPA). Flexible working is available.
The role focuses on community services to avoid hospital admissions.
Responsibilities
- Provide assessment, diagnosis, and management of patients with psychiatric conditions and learning disability.
- Evaluate and manage interplay between psychiatric, physical and psychological conditions.
- Lead multidisciplinary reviews for complex cases, especially involving the Mental Health Act and public safety.
- Work with local services to develop robust care pathways and facilitate transitions to avoid hospital admissions where safe.
- Liaise with mental health professionals, local authorities and independent sector providers.
- Comply with quality standards applicable to the service and support new standards as they arise.
- Provide cross‑cover (emergency and prospective) for other speciality colleagues; annual leave cover drawn from team consultants.
- Participate in Mental Health Assessments; post holder must hold or apply for Section 12(2).
Qualifications
- Qualifications and experience appropriate for a Specialty Doctor in mental health with learning disability.
- Section 12(2) qualification or acceptable application to attain it.
